Luke Digweed, writer, Vietnam Coracle

Luke Digweed: Coracle Collection

Published November 2024 | Words by Vietnam Coracle

Two and a half years after joining Vietnam Coracle as a writer, and having contributed a wide range of excellent articles, guides and reviews for the site, Luke Digweed is taking a hiatus to pursue other aspects of his life and career. To celebrate Luke’s contribution to the site, and as a way for me to show my appreciation and gratitude for his time, effort and work, I’ve put together a full archive displaying all of his articles for Vietnam Coracle.

After 10 years of producing all the content for Vietnam Coracle myself, Luke was the first other writer to be published on the site, after I launched Contributing Writers in 2022. Since then, Luke’s writing and photography have appeared regularly on Vietnam Coracle: he has published 20 invaluable guides that have helped tens of thousands of people discover and enjoy the food, drink, cultural and historical sites of Vietnam that he has written about. Luke’s archive is impressively diverse, ranging from comprehensive food and drink guides for entire cities, to in-depth travel guides for religious, spiritual and historical sites, to curious cultural phenomena, accommodation reviews and transportation guides. His articles have been viewed and read hundreds of thousands of times and I am very proud to showcase them on this site.

Browsing the catalogue of Luke’s articles, it is apparent how significant his contribution to the site has been, how eclectic his subjects are, how much research he has undertaken, how wonderful Vietnam looks through his lens, and how much the country means to him. Luke began by specializing in guides to Huế, where he has lived for most of his years in Vietnam. He then branched out to cover many other areas, particularly Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) and the Mekong Delta, as well as a series of guides focusing on Hội An and its environs. Please enjoy, as I have done, the full scope of Luke’s work in the collection below. I look forward to welcoming him back to Vietnam Coracle in the future. All that remains is for me to say, “Thank you, Luke“.
