Tom Divers is the founder and creator of Vietnam Coracle. In 2005 he moved from his native London to Vietnam, where he has been living, working and travelling ever since. He pays rent in Ho Chi Minh City but is more often on the road, riding his motorbike a quarter of a million kilometres across Vietnam to research guides to the farthest-flung corners of the nation. When he’s not in the saddle, you’ll find him on a beach with a margarita, in a tent on a mountainside or at a streetside noodle house: in other words, at the ‘office’. My Website Recently Published its 400th Guide!🥳
This milestone is a good opportunity for me to say thank you to everyone who has contributed to Vietnam Coracle in various ways, both presently and in the past, and to readers, especially those who have kindly supported the site, whether through donations, Patreon, Offline Guides & Maps or other means. I can’t overstate how crucial this support is for the survival of Vietnam Coracle. I’m proud of the content produced by this website – the country and experiences that it tries to capture and do justice to, and the people that it has helped to explore and enjoy Vietnam.

💯Always Independent:
The 400 guides, articles and reviews on this website are all 100% independent: there are no sponsored posts, no AI-generated guides, no paywalls and no paid reviews. Everything is independently produced through on-the-ground research, writing, photography, editing and publishing. Used and enjoyed by millions for over a decade, Vietnam Coracle now receives 100,000 pageviews per month and over one million per year. The site has achieved this without any seed money from investors and without sacrificing its independence, ethos and values for the sake of financial return. I’ve been running the site for over 13 years – since I started it in 2012.
📜Real Guides:
400 posts might not seem like a high number to people who are used to content numbers on social media accounts. But remember that these 400 Vietnam Coracle posts are not short, aphoristic, ephemeral posts: they are substantial, long-form, real guides, articles, reviews, interviews and more; packed with information, photos, maps, and (hopefully) engaging, descriptive, vivid writing. Vietnam Coracle content aims to be both beautiful and practical. Average post-length on Vietnam Coracle is somewhere between 2,000-4,000 words, but many run to over 10,000 words. What’s more, some posts are repeatedly updated and completely re-written in order to stay current.
🔢Content Count:
Vietnam Coracle posts are organized into four main categories (see below👇) and then dozens of subcategories. The content can be navigated via the category archive pages, or the Vietnam Coracle Map, or by typing key words into the search box at the top right corner of any page, or using the hamburger menu in the top left corner of any page to find what you’re looking for. Join the newsletter (free) to get an email notification once a week when I publish a new post or a full update to an existing one. Here’s to many more centuries of posts!

❤️Love it? Use it? Help it!
If you want this website to survive and thrive, please support Vietnam Coracle – I can’t continue to maintain this resource without your help. Unlike guidebooks and many other online and offline publications, I don’t have a seed fund or financial benefactors. I try to make a living from this site as best I can without compromising its values, ethos and quality. But it is very difficult to do so. Please donate (monthly, if possible), or become a member of my Patreon community, or buy an Offline Guide & Map. Thank you. Tom
